I've had a long dry spell last year and I barely painted at all the entirety of 2017. Needless to say it was a miserable year! I did play here and there with various mixed media projects, and took classes to boost my creative juices, all to no avail. This year though, it's been a whirlwind of creative endeavors happening at the studio! I have so much on my plate, between school, work, family, and try to take my business off the ground, I barely have any time left but trust me, every single second I squeeze in painting time. I haven't felt this gusto in painting in quite a while. Perhaps the enthusiasm comes from a place of deep love for watercolor, my one true love, and botanical art. No matter what new materials and subjects I experiment with, the one thing that never ceases to amaze me, and I never get tired of, is botanical art in watercolors. I've been cranking up practically a painting a day and even posting little snipets of my process on Instagram, in the form of WIP pictures and short videos. I am on a roll!
Here's my latest creation, a knockout rose and I have to say, I am really satisfied with how it turned out. That speaks a lot considering that I am always hypercritical of my artwork and find it hard to be absolutely pleased. It's paintings like this one that gets me all fired up to keep going. I have so many ideas at the moment, I hardly know where to start! But that beats having no ideas or inspiration. Trust me, that is a bummer!
Hope you all have a great and creative week! Until next time, shine brightly.
